We celebrate the passing of our beloved father, grandfather, husband, brother, uncle, colleague, and friend. After many years of struggling with physical ailments, he made his transition in peace surrounded by all his loved ones demonstrating his love and tenderness to everyone until the end on May 17, 2010 at 3:25 p.m. He was born in Guayaquil, Ecuador into a reputable family of scholars, public servants, and attorneys but because of his gentle and compassionate nature, his calling was to become a Biochemist. He wanted to find ways to heal and serve but there was no financial funding for research in his native country. This led him to bring his family to New York and work at Columbia University as a fellow researcher. Later on his particular lab moved to Emory University in Atlanta, Georgia where he became an Associate Professor as well as continued with his research in plasma fractionation. Later on he moved to the private sector and worked for laboratories in the Southern California area and then setting up plasma fractionation plants in Holland and Spain.
He leaves behind his wife, Mercedes, and his daughters, Libia Taylor and Mercedes Rammer and grandson, Patrick Rammer, who will tell you that although he had great accomplishments as a Scientist, his greatest accomplishment was-- his nurturing, compassionate, kind-hearted gentle nature and his capacity to make everyone feel loved and not judged. He was a man of integrity and curiosity; he was an idealist and dreamer, in a “Quixotic” sort of way, and his generosity to all far surpassed his pocketbook. He had great love for books and learning. He loved the arts and music and especially classical music, which he instilled on his oldest daughter, Libia by singing to her every night with his beautiful tenor voice. He had a sonorous laughter which rang throughout the house; and had great appreciation for mythology and the history of mankind, good food and fine wines. He was a man with flaws and made errors but his virtues and brilliance far exceeded them; and, his family will always carry his love and tender nature in their hearts. They will always hear his encouraging words, and his blood will always sing within them.
Luis Arturo, may your Musical Vibrations coming from a higher plane of existence and from the Higher Mind continue to resonate and vibrate bringing healing, wholeness, inspiration, and compassion to all humanity.
